Don't panic.. It is easy to resolve this as I had this experience recently.
Press ESC when booting Ubuntu, select the recovery mode, and then select the root shell access.
Type ls /home to identify the username you need to access, then change its password by typing PASSWD username.
Now we are done, type reboot to enjoy your revival
